"I worked for two years in Ireland before passing the
Agrégation competitive examination in English and focusing my doctoral thesis on Irish cinema. After briefly teaching at the secondary school level, I obtained a senior lecturer position at IUFM, the teacher training institute of Brittany, where we developed an accredited course in cinema and audiovisual techniques for teachers. At the University of Western Brittany (UBO), I was invilved in the creation of the bachelor's degree in Arts which began in 2017. My current research focuses on contemporary European cinema, a somewhat neglected field within film studies. However, I believe it is essential to familiarise students, who primarily watch American series and blockbusters, with films produced in Europe. The cultural approach is essential for the construction of a vibrant European identity. With five universities located in harbour cities, including Gdansk, we are launching a new European programme!

In the bachelor's degree in Arts, although students have varied artistic practices, they all follow the same theoretical courses. It's important than they study complete cinematographic works, which alone allow access to the richness of a film and its deeper meaning. For the pratical side of things, I found a training location in Mellionnec, where the TyFilms association introduces students to the creation of documentary films. We share some wonderful moments when they hand in their work, which is often very interesting. Like the cinema, the university is still a space dominated by men. Embedded in the collective unconscious, this domination spreads without speaking its name, depreciating women one by one. In academia, the male identity is beeing perpetuated by mechanisms that are far from being neutralised and are still widely reproduced, echoing those conveyed by the incessant flow of still or moving images."
